It's Crochet

I couldn't resist posting these. The beaded crochet pattern for the necklace (red) and choker/child's necklace (vanilla) may be found in Knit and Crochet with Beads by Lily Chin. There's a trick to making the beads appear on the side you consider the front, but I think it's easier than knitting the beads in.

  1. Nice. How long does it take to make one necklace?

  2. It takes less than a day...maybe 3 or 4 hours? Part of that time was getting the hang of reversing the double crochet stitch when I want the bead to show up on the front. It was awkward at first. (The knit necklace took about 2 days because I was not used to knitting with such fine needles and thread.)

  3. Oh, I forgot to mention that Jim threaded the beads, and I'm not sure how long it took him. The 15" red necklace has 400+ beads on it and the 17" knitted necklace has 300+ beads on it. (He was so sweet...he wanted to thread them.)
