Aidan's Tricolor Wave Vest

My little friend, Aidan, will be one year old this May. I made this vest for him to grow into. It's done in dark purple & blue with light purple tricolor wave stripes. I wanted a loose rib: one that wouldn't hug and bunch up at the bottom, so I used a wheat ear rib (both the striping and rib patterns may be found in A Treasury of Knitting Patterns, Barbara G. Walker, 1968).

  3. Hey Paula!

It took me about 5 days to make. I was slow starting at first because I was trying to match the pattern as I decreased during the armhole, shoulder, and neckhole shaping. Also, the ribbing had a different multiple of stitches from the striping so I had to account for it by increasing 1 stitch once I got into the body. It didn't matter as no one notices an extra stitch in the end product.

P.S. How was the C'bad 5000? I woke up to the sound of a very "excited" someone on a loudspeaker.... :-(
