Am I the only one knitting?

This is a quick beanie I made for my nephew

  1. Hey Lisa!

No, you're not the only one knitting. I took a "break" and am crocheting a queen-sized blanket for our bed out of scrap yarn. I couldn't stay away from knitting for long though and am currently knitting some side projects.

Nice hats! The first one reminds me of the hats women wore during the "roaring 20s." I love the colors of the second one. Did you use self-striping yarn or did you do the color work yourself?

    P.S. How's your mom?

  2. I'm still knitting, too. My laptop broke but now is fixed. I will post later today. I like that hat and was wondering if it was self striping, too? Looks like it lined up really well.

  3. Lisa,

Here is a link that will show you how to knit into the front and back of a stitch for that ruffled scarf we were talking about last night.

  4. I am trying to do that ruffled ribbed scarf and cannot grasp the ribbing instructions. I must have pulled it out three times last night. I don't understand this part: "Row one rib pattern:
knit three, *bring yarn forward, slip stitch as if to purl, bring yarn back*, repeat pattern from ,
end with knit three." WHY do I not understand this?

For the beanie I used this organic cotton self stripping stuff. I think I got it at Joann's or Michaels.

My mom is doing really good. Her surgery went well, she had no complications from the mastectomy at all and virtually no pain, just discomfort. The bummer part was she must have pulled a muscle or pinched a nerve in her back due to sitting still for long periods of time and believe it or not that is what has given her the most pain. That is slowly healing. She had her post op appt with her surgeon Tues and the results of the pathology report came back inconclusive to whether of not she has to undergo chemo, so she has to meet with the oncologist next week. Hopefully we will have an answer to that question soon. I took before and after photos of her and she is flat as a pancake. In about 8 weeks she will have a nice pair of silicone boobies.

  5. Lisa,

I'm glad your mom is doing good. Please keep me posted.

The ribbing on that scarf is like you are cheating almost. All you do is bring your yarn forward - slip the stitch from your left to your right needle and bring the yarn back again to knit. If you still don't get it, I'll have Damon film me doing it later tonight and can post it. Let me know.
