Starburst Hat

This hat was really fun to make. The pattern is called "Ida's Kitchen." I downloaded the pattern from Ravelry. If you haven't signed up on Raverly, you should! http://www.ravelry.com/
I am going to make a more "manly" colored one for Jim next. For this hat, I used Blue Sky Alpaca Melange and Blue Sky Alpaca 100% Alpaca Sport Weight yarn. Here is a link to the pattern:

  1. Hey, Paula!

Cool hat! I signed on with Ravelry last year but haven't done much with it yet. Lots of stuff! You might laugh, but I got a little overwhelmed.

I've been thinking about starting a knitting group. Say...meet every 3rd Sunday of the month? The problem is finding a good place to meet like the Del Mar Public Library where I meet my Knit n' Stitch group. Meeting at a store might be fun, but you can't just use yarn from someplace else and not feel uncomfortable about it. Also, meeting at coffee shops, etc. is fine, but then one would still need to buy something. I'd just like a place where people can gather and not feel like they have to buy anything. I checked into the Dove Library here in Carlsbad. They have meeting rooms but at a cost.

I checked out your list of knitting groups. I saw that "Knit by the Beach" in Solana Beach is listed. The last time I met with my knitting group, I was told that that store was closing. I've been meaning to visit as I've heard that there are nice yarns there but expensive. Taxes this year (we had to pay) means a lean budget for us so I never checked it out.

  2. Hey Mary,

A knitting group sounds good. I keep meaning to call you to meet, but something always seems to come up. I took a class a while ago and am still working on the baby blanket. I like that place we meet in San Marcos, a lot. I don't think they care if you just buy a coffee or something inexpensive.

  3. Yeah, call me when you can. It'd be great to see you! I've been knitting kid sweaters lately and can't wait to show you. I'll be posting them at some point.
